CWU Laughing Horse Youth Orchestra Festival

The Laughing Horse Youth Orchestra Festival is a one week summer camp that serves both Kittitas Valley musicians and musicians throughout the Northwest. Laughing Horse provides advanced full orchestra experience with Central Washington University's orchestra director, Dr. Nikolas Caoile as well as coaching from the Kairos Quartet, CWU's faculty string quartet. The festival also provides intermediate orchestra experience with Kara Hunnicutt, the string teacher for Ellensburg School Distrcit. In addition, Laughing Horse is a morning day camp where beginning musicians learn to play the violin, viola, or cello. Instruments for beginners are provided as part of the program. To round out the summer camp experience, Laughing Horse holds afternoon elective sessions including pottery, gymnastics, conducting, golf, fiddle, and many others.
